Lights out Podcast

Merry meet all,

I have been listening to the Lights Out Podcast lately. Never listen to it just before going to sleep. It’s so scary it will give you nightmares. But I love the show. The guy who narrates it has such a soothing voice. The story about the alien abductions rattled me to my core. Here is the link to their YouTube page. I totally recommend lending an ear to these guys. They are amazing! They retell famous or should I say, notorious paranormal tales on their show.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2rPFY8db0FIU-iSE_PQrlA

The latest podcast I listened to was about the demonic possession of Annelise Michel. It was so scary. I enjoyed it but the whole podcast story was very long. They even replayed a recording of the exorcism that was performed on her. A total of over 60 exorcisms was performed on her. She weighted under seventy pounds before she died. The poor woman. I can’t imagine what she endured.

The Lights out Podcast is led by the host Josh who has the ideal voice for podcasting. His brother/fellow producer joins him on the show each time. They are so nice and professional. And scary. Josh can really tell a scary tale. After I finished watching the Manhattan Alien Abduction podcast about the alien adduction, I was convinced aliens would get me. I had to call someone to calm down. I closed all the curtains and I ensured my wooden staff was by my bed.

Lights out Podcast has a total of 242 subscribers. Here is a description of their podcast:

Description;

“Lights out everybody, turn everything off, sit back and relax while your mind is taken on a dark and twisted journey filled with thrills and chills. Each week Josh will take you through a dark story, case or event involving a wide range of topics including the occult, hauntings, cryptids, alien abductions, serial killers and demonic possession. So if you’re looking for a chill creepy paranormal and true crime podcast to escape with look no further than Lights Out. New episodes released every Friday, make sure you subscribe and follow the show on social media @lightsoutcast”

The scariest and darkest podcast they have done in my opinion is the Trans Allegheny Lunatic Asylum. That was all about true horror. The scariest horrors are the ones you endure while you are awake, its not a movie you can shut off or a book you can put down. The terrors were brought eerily to life by the narrator of the podcast. I want to investigate there but I would never lifve there or even live near the building. Nope. No way no hell.

Credit given to Lights Out Podcast.

I plan to enjoy almost every show.  I am definitely following them on Twitter!

In other news, I am happy to announce that Polar Borealis is publishing two of my poems in their magazine. I am so happy about this. I will know more in the future about when the magazine prints my poems. Polar Borealis is a Canadian publication.  Exciting news!

Blessed be, Spiderwitch

The Zozo Phenomenon

Merry meet all,

I just read the book The Zozo Phenomenon. It was a very good book if not far fetched in parts. I don’t believe all the hype but it was a good book overall. I do believe that people can convince themselves that something exists. There is a fine line between what is real and what is fake. In one section of the book during a paranormal investigation, the wife of Darren Evans enters the house and claims to be sexually assaulted by Zozo. She is not dressed well but seems oddly calm, acting like she is drugged even ( she probably was) and her husband takes it very calmly. Excuse me, if my husband sees me or hears me say I was sexually assaulted, I would expect him to be behaving way more damn concerned. Instead, he continues with the investigation with Ghost Adventures.  I would divorce him on the spot. He just goes outside and finds her at a hotel and leaves her there. What an asshole! That right there tells me it was fake. She desperately wanted attention. If I was assaulted by a far fetched demon no less, I would expect more done about it and I would not be behaving that calmly.

The power of suggestion is powerful. I suspect that is what is occurring here in the book. I don’t believe the Slender Man exists either. People start a story and it goes viral. But on the other hand, I have had actual paranormal things happen to me. But I never looked for it or forced it to happen. It just did. I had no control over it. But people do have control over what they choose to believe exists. I have used ouija boards and nothing happened- at all. That may be because I was alone. I am sure the boards function better with two people. So no a demon didn’t pop out and possess me.

I am skeptical that that demon exists. The people who want to believe he is real search for any explanation or story that he exists and then that should make it so that it does. Sheesh. If anyone has a genuine occurrence that they never forced to occur, then yeah I would believe that person.

I know a guy who is a Witch and has discussed demonic possession with a priest. The priest told him nine times out of ten, the person believing themselves to be possessed are instead dealing with mental illness. That is a more  logical explanation. I do believe in the paranormal but I also believe in being practical and logical. First you rule out all the plausible causes, then when you can’t explain it and you are sure, then you go deeper and accept the paranormal explanation.

It was a good entertaining read. That is all. I don’t regret reading it but I don’t believe it. It is fake , the whole thing. A cry for attention. There is something to the maxim seeing is believing. A lot of spooky things have happened to me that I never forced or sought out. they just did. An editor who read the book Dracul by Dacre Stoker claimed that Mina and Jonathan Harker were real people, acquaintances of Bram Stoker. People are so eager to believe in anything that they will accept anything. He believed that Dracula existed. He is a fictional character, nothing more, based on the actual historical figure Vlad Tepes.

To demonstrate my skepticism even more, I have bad news. The publishing company J Ellington Ashton Press is a scam. I am now not having my horror novel published with them.

This is what convinced me it was a scam all along:

The editor who encouraged me to sing on has zero ratings and reviews on Amazon- no ratings mean no sales
They were terrified of deadlines A First
Signed me on too fast- the same day they got my partial
Praised me up
I couldn’t google or find the editor anywhere online even on Facebook
I was told it would be too hard for her to be in touch with me from Australia- it takes seconds to send an email
I had a fishy feeling about them
I had a fishy feeling about being told it would hard for her to be in touch or her constant assurance she was working on it
Their website looks like shit
Their ratings and reviews on Amazon are bad
They have zero web presence
Told me I would be shelved- my book would be shelved next to other famous authors
The editor constantly name dropped He is full of shit
I was on bated breath waiting for them to ask me for money
In order for you to avoid this happening to you, do your research first. That will save you heartbreak. And you want to be happy right? And you want to be with a legit company right? Right. If publishing is your goal, then go for it but be careful.! Scams are everywhere these days. It is terrible that a publishing company will prey on gullible authors and wreak havoc with their dreams but the scammers are out there.
Now don’t get me wrong. I love watching Ghost Adventures as much as the next person. I am not writing this to sprinkle hate confetti. I do watch the show. But I just maintain a healthy dose of skepticism. I don’t agree with the way they bash witchcraft not knowing enough about it, But I just brush that aside because my ability see ghosts leaves me feeling quite isolated. I can’t just stop being what I am. I am what I am. I accept it but I bear the mantle for it. I don’t boast or act proud or show off. I think that with an ability like mine, I guess you have to pay the price. The guys on that show validate it for me because they make it cool and acceptable. It makes me feel less alone.
We live in a society that pushes conformity. I say never be afraid to stand out and be true to yourself.
The paranormal is now more accepted than it was say 20 years ago. I do believe though there are more ghosts, spirits. demons out now than there ever were before. I also know that we have more ghost hunting tools on the market. I never knew those tools existed. I just used my own natural clairvoyant senses to detect ghosts. When I do encounter a spirit it never sticks around for me to find out what it wants. How can I help it that way? Maybe with more ghost hunting tools, I will be able to know what they want. Let’s hope. The future seems spooky. I believe something is coming, something big. And I think that the spirits all know what that will be and are waiting for us mere mortal to figure it out. Let’s do just that before it is too late. This pandemic is only the beginning.

Merry meet all,

Last night a mouse appeared by my front door in the hall. Penny tore after the terrified mouse like a bat out of hell. I heard squeaks and saw something small and grey running for its life. Not that I blame the mouse. Penny is one cute cat but she is also a huntress by nature. Sometimes I forget that.

I am so excited!!!  It’s great owning a new computer monitor and printer et al. But that’s not the best news!!!! I am attending the virtual StokerCon of May 2021. Oh my gosh I can’t wait. I wish I could attend the real StokerCon but I am just grateful enough for the virtual event!!

Scott Bower is a very nice person. It is just the three of them- his team and they go on paranormal investigations and genuinely experience the paranormal. It is not as flashy and stylish as Ghost Adventures but I enjoy watching Ghost Trackers for their authentic encounters. I mean I wish I had a team of investigators with me when I want to go ghost hunting.

Family believes Christmas present unleashed paranormal activity into their Brandon home

Merry meet all,

The battle between winter and spring rages outside. The trees wave and bow to the strong winds. The grey skies hang low. It’s hard to say which will be the victor: winter snow storms or spring filling our hearts with hope upon spying a fresh green bud poking from the frozen earth.

I’ve been reading the excellently written novel Dracul by Dacre Stoker and J.D  Barker. Oh my god the novel is such an eye opener. This novel is the prequel to the original Dracula by Bram Stoker. I love the book and have thoroughly enjoyed reading it. It’s a great novel to read to keep you out of the cold. Apparently Mina and Jonathan Harker, the characters immortalized in the famous novel, may have been real living breathing people. I won’t give away any more information about the novel. I can’t recommend the novel enough to al you dear readers.

I watched the scariest horror movie recently. The Conjuring and Insidious franchise had nothing on this one. It was called Veronica. I heard about the whole scary supposedly true haunted house story from a horror podcast. Oh my goddess there were some nightmare inducing scenes I am having a hard time forgetting. One example is when the teenage girl’s toddler aged siblings violently snack on their very disturbed older sister. That’s right they ate her. I can’t forget that scene. It was hard to watch, especially while eating, and very hard to forget. Oh my gosh. I will never watch that movie again. But for any true horror movie fans, I dare you to watch it at night alone with the lights off.

Speaking of spooky, here is an eerie tale for you, my dear readers. It deals with a haunted doll carriage that infests a family in their home.

BRANDON, Miss. (WLBT) – It sounded like someone was knocking on the walls.

That’s how Whitney Merritt describes the beginning of the nearly three weeks of alleged paranormal activity her family endured after receiving a Christmas present last month.

The present was a vintage doll carriage. Her mother had gotten it from a friend of a friend and had gifted it to Whitney’s daughter, where it sat by the Christmas tree for the first few days.

The knocking, Whitney says, began at the beginning of the year. They would hear it on the walls of their Brandon home which they have recently moved into. The sounds grew so loud that on two occasions, Whitney walked to the front door thinking someone was outside. It was midnight so Whitney called her husband, Michael, who works nights.

“I think someone’s at the front door,” she told him before turning on the porch light. When she opened it, no one was there.

“And then about the third or fourth night was when we started hearing, like, boom, boom, boom, in the attic,” she recalls as she rubs her chest, leaving it red. At first they simply wrote it off. The home was built in 1992, maybe it was just settling in?

“I don’t know. Logical reasons I’m trying to come up with in my head,” Whitney admits.

But soon the sounds above their living room became so frequent that they could no longer be ignored. So one weekend in the middle of the night, Michael went into the attic carrying a shotgun and a flashlight, expecting to find someone up there.

“We were out there making so much noise,” Whitney says. “People probably thought we were crazy. We thought there was somebody in the attic!” But no one was up there. And so ended week one.

Week two started with a bang.

It was around two or three in the morning when Whitney was awakened from what she calls a “dead sleep.” The noise was so loud, she says, that she thought their dog had crashed through the window of their door. She grabbed her handgun and walked around their home, but found nothing.

In the morning while walking into the kitchen was when she discovered the bag on the ground. In the bag were the coffee mugs she had recently purchased from TJMaxx. The bag was three to four feet away from the table. Both of the mugs were broken.

“There was no way that they could have fallen over at all, Whitney says adamantly. “I mean, they weren’t on their side or anything… they’re not just gonna roll. You know what I mean? They just don’t roll.”

The next night, another bang. It was around 3:30 in the morning. Whitney rushed into the kitchen to find another bag on the floor, inside another shattered mug. This time shards of glass had come out of the bag and so Whitney began sweeping it up.

At first they thought maybe one of their children had gone to use the bathroom, but the light never came on.

“So my husband opened up the door real quick and turned the light on and there was nothing in there,” Whitney says. “And he stood there messing with the doors in the hallway for a minute just trying to find a logical explanation, like, maybe it was the suction that’s slamming the door.”

But the door never moved again.

“Hey, is Paxton home?” Michael asked.

Whitney said no, that he was still at school.

When Whitney and her daughter got home, Michael explained the call. He said that he was in bed when he heard the front door close. Then he heard Paxton’s door close. Then he began hearing knocking on the walls.

He called Paxton’s name five or six times, but there was no answer. That’s when he got up and walked into his son’s room. Paxton’s bedroom light was on, his Xbox was on and a bottle of water was “actively” dripping on the floor.

After telling Whitney this story, they had a discussion about all of the strange occurrences at their home and when they had begun. “We were sitting here and [Michael] just fixated on that little baby carriage and we stuck it outside…”

Since then, everything has been normal. No more knocking, no more footsteps in the attic.

The carriage now resides in the garage and has been placed on Facebook Marketplace for $65. “Full disclosure,” the caption reads. “It’s definitely haunted. Sooo. Yeah.”

Whitney did say that she eventually received more backstory on the carriage from her mother, who told her that the owner’s husband had been killed in a motorcycle accident on the Natchez Trace a year ago. She believes that it’s possible that that’s who she saw walk past her in the kitchen.

“We both strongly believe there is a spirit attached to that doll buggy,” Michael wrote in a text message. “With what was going on, there’s no other explanation. It all started with all the knocking and banging on the walls out of nowhere and I knew.”

Whitney says that she wouldn’t argue with anyone who doubts their story and that she, too, is hesitant to believe people who claims to have seen something paranormal. “I didn’t want to say any of this out loud because it sounds, you know— I know how it sounds,” Whitney says. “I’m not stupid, I know how it sounds. But, you know, it is what it is.””

Indeed. A spirit attached itself to the doll carriage.

Paranormal Scene Investigations Canada

Merry meet all,

I want to invest in more paranormal investigation tools. All these years during when I actually encountered spirits/ ghosts with my own eyes, I did just that- used my senses. But the paranormal investigations are quite scientific. I have no problem with that. However, I never find out what the spirits want from me or why they appear to me. My theory is that if I do invest in tools, then hopefully I can not only collect evidence- actual evidence, but maybe decode a mystery I have hoped to solve for a while now.

I want to get a digital recorder. I could record ghostly voices that way. I want to invest in a better flashlight, I have cameras already and something that picks up EVPs. Who knows what I will use after that but it is a good start.

I just have to finish reading Ghost Hunting for Dummies by Zac Bagans. I had no idea there was so much to it. It is a thick read. Penny keeps napping on the book. I am sure I will learn a great many things from it. I highly recommend the book for anyone else interested in all things spooky that go bump in the night.

I found a second Canadian paranormal investigation team. I will let you read all about it here. I think it’s fantastic that there are Canadian organizations!

“Welcome to Paranormal Scene Investigations Canada! We are a local, non-profit group of trained and knowledgeable paranormal investigators, operating in and around Edmonton, Alberta. It is our goal to seek out phenomenon and uncover the truth behind these occurrences, whether they are truly paranormal or just simply explained. We operate in a professional and respectful manner, ensuring our clients’ needs are thoroughly met. PSI maintains a discrete and non-judgmental atmosphere throughout the course of an investigation, with confidentiality at the forefront of our mission.

Although relatively new to the Edmonton paranormal research scene, PSI has quickly carved a place amongst some of the older groups in the city. With a fresh perspective on investigation goals, we place our clients at the center of each case, working with them to achieve maximum success through-out our time together.

Founded in 2010 by Roger Smeitink, PSI formed as a means to further develop Roger’s paranormal investigation skills, and seek out answers to the unknown. In two years, the team has grown to nine investigators and encompasses a broad range of beliefs and experiences. We work cohesively as well as independently, reviewing constantly to ensure the investigation is complete. Communication is continuous and open, and allows for all activity to be interpreted thoroughly and efficiently.

The PSI team has a strong background in police work, security, community services, and at the opposite end of that spectrum, the arts. Our range of professions and beliefs combines to give what we consider a complete “panel” for investigation services, allowing our clients to find comfort and answers within our work. It is of the utmost importance that our clients have as many answers as possible, and we will continue to work with you until the case is officially closed.

Team PSI Canada”

They sound really cool. I definitely want to follow them and I hope they one day come over to my neck of the woods. Wow I want to hear more about them. I wish I had a faithful team like Zac does. I am on my own. But maybe that will change one day.

There is a Full Moon next week. !! Charge your stones by the moonlight!

Everything has a Price

Merry meet all,

Wow I had a fun and powerful weekend. Samhain has arrived! I attended the local Samhain Public Ritual on the Commons with my friend Nancy. The High Priest tragically lost his daughter. I attended the ritual to show my support and condolences. Although I froze my poor bones that night.

Now November brings its own magic. The grey skies hover over the colorful trees. November’s magic is more subdued than wild October but it still amazes me. Sorry I haven’t blogged lately but I have been a little sidetracked by something personal.

My cat Penny has diabetes. It threw me off my balance. Now that I have learned how to give her insulin and how I will feed her, I feel better. It is very expensive so hopefully everything will work out. Penny will be fine.

On to more paranormal news…

In 1944 my family moved into an apartment that no one wanted. The lure of cheap rent was not enough of a draw for even the most desperate. We were more than desperate, we were a family living on the margin. The margin of opportunity, money and sanity. We were the working poor, with a questionable pedigree. Housing had always been an issue, because of finances… and other matters of social delicacy. Our last chance was waiting, we had been disappointed before.

My parents were shown dismal cold water flats fit for vermin in industrial slums. Once property owners or Real Estate agents saw the dark skinned man with the blonde wife, suddenly there were no vacancies. To get a decent room above a store on the avenue would take a miracle. Miracles are heaven sent, while evil likes to disguise tainted gifts that come with hefty price tags.

At a shabby real estate office, there existed a listing with no takers. The rent was a steal at $50.50 a month (the rent was never raised and stayed that price for 26 years ) Eight large rooms above an old saloon . This was a place that liked secrets, where suspect people with poor pocket books could live.

There was a downstairs apartment in a similar layout and the saloon had a separate entrance. Eight rooms, where my alcoholic older brother could rant and rave away from prying eyes. After all who would bother calling in a disturbance that occurred in a saloon unless it spilled into the street?

Through the so called family entrance on the side of the building you entered into was a dismal Victorian hallway ( oddly the building was supposed to have been built in 1920, but Brooklyn powers that be were known to fudge legal facts here and there, the design of the building seemed more 1880’s in style) painted a sickly pale green. The paint was several layers thick on every surface especially on the ornate stairs and banister. The rooms were wide with tall ceilings, dormant ornate gas chandeliers on those ceilings, pocket doors and each bedroom had a closet.

There were two ornamental gas fireplaces that did not work, a pull chain toilet and claw foot tub. The bedrooms facing the avenue were sun lit most of the day, while the central hallway and rest of the bedrooms were steeped in a greasy darkness. The wall at the end of the hallway was oddly bowed to accommodate a closet from an inside bedroom, one of many design quirks that were part and parcel of the place. There were windows and doors that led to brick walls or narrow shafts. A boarded up dumbwaiter that we used to hold our trash can, contained a skylight to the roof. One could hear voices coming from that shaft. My parents said it was just the voices of bar patrons. Strangely, when the bar was closed the cacophony of sounds seemed louder somehow.

We never heard much noise from the street or the saloon for that matter, the apartment was its own world, a vacuum. Loud crashes and faint scratching noises were heard at all hours, perhaps mice in the walls, or rats in the basement knocking over wooden crates and beer barrels…at least that was the sensible explanation.

There was no logical explanation for the misty forms that glided down the hall just out of reach or the ice cold spots that traveled from hallway to stairs. One of my earliest memories was watching from my crib as a wraith made an appearance. She glided into my room from a darkened corner, just a smoky mist at first , then a shimmering as she became solid. I remember her face was that of an old woman. She was smiling and held out her arms to me, but just as quickly as she appeared she vanished as my mother entered the room.

As a child I became accustomed to the strange comings and goings in the apartment. Many times at play I would chase a rustling skirt or boot heel around a corner, never finding the hide and seeker. Not every ethereal visitor was playful or harmless.

At the witching hour, the large rooms would seem to grow smaller. The first 14 years of my life were spent in those rooms and I don’t remember ever sleeping well at all. At night , in the wee hours the place took on a demonic feel. The darkness would pitch itself blacker than black and suffocate the dreamer. I knew my tormentors , two large shadow beings , whom I called Red Eyes and Green Eyes. On any given night, either one would stalk the hall or invade my room. They would stand and stare at me as I lay paralyzed with fear. They stood floor to ceiling, bigger than a human, silent and stinking of rot. They glowered with their burning eyes. I feared Green Eyes the most, it was a breath stealer. I would squirm under their glare until I could hurl myself out of bed into my parents room. Once between my parents in bed , I could rest, I was safe.

My worst paranormal encounter happened at age 4 . I awoke to a strange buzzing sound, as if thousands of bees were inside the walls. I got out of bed and made my way down the hall , opened the front door of our apartment and stood at the edge of the landing. The stairs were bathed in a sour yellow glow from the hall sconce. I looked down the staircase to see a figure gliding up the stairs towards me. It looked like a man wearing a hat with a long overcoat and scarf. As it got closer I noticed it was wearing some sort of rubber mask, like a red devil mask . The unwanted visitor was now face to face with me. I called out my brothers names and called for my dad, thinking they were playing a game. I looked into the mask holes , but there were no eyes behind them, just emptiness. I couldn’t move. My mom grabbed me just as I was about to fall to my death from the top of the stairs. As she held me tight , I saw a tendril of smoke make is was back down the staircase. This may all have been a nightmare or my active imagination, but the thought of those childhood nights still send a chill through me.

We as a family went through some hard times living in that cursed place. Trouble followed us . No one ever wanted to linger in our home, those that did often said that they could not remember when they had ever felt so helpless. The downstairs tenants did not seem to fare any better either. Death and sorrow were their constant companions too. After a tragic renter left, the place would remain empty, sometimes for years. The building seemed to feed on sorrow. Any pet that I brought into it never lasted very long.

One day the dog, cat, bird , turtle or fish would be happily playing only to be found dead the next morning. Doors, cabinets and faucets, would often be found open and once gas was hissing from the dormant chandeliers. When the gas company worker showed up to turn it off, the shaken mechanic came up from the cellar to say that the pipe was not connected to anything , there could not have been a gas leak.

My family left in 1970, the building had been sold and the new owner wanted to do a full remodel. The spell had been broken. So many years have passed since I lived in that place, it still exists. In its new configuration there are four apartments where once there were only two. The building has undergone major changes ,the old saloon is now a sport’s bar filled with life from young revelers and from what I hear, many, many tenants have called that cursed place home, but only for a short while. The rent is no longer $50.50 a month….evil after all ,comes as a steal with a hefty price tag.”

Ok I love this story. I have lived in a Victorian home. I have actually seen spirits and I can relate to what this person endured. I know how that feels.  It is a really good story. I could go on and on about some of my experiences.. next time.

Stay spooky!

The Horrors of Beach Army Hospital

Merry meet all,

I gathered four ripening Chinese Lanterns and two purple beans from the garden this morning. I spied a bean growing on my leafy scarlet runner bean vines. My tomatoes are growing nicely. The garden is winding down for autumn and the frost. It makes me sad and happy at the same time.

Here’s a good ghost story for the day. I wish I could investigate this spot. I am so jealous. Read on to find out why I am almost green with envy.

The Dormant Horrors of Beach Army Hospital

Those in the paranormal community are a thorough bunch. They leave no stone unturned, no forest unsearched, and no dark corner of any state unexplored. They’ve outed every ghost, documented every haunt, explored every rumor and shrapnel of mythical lore, and yet, here I find myself, alone in the damp and crumbling halls of a building for which no record exists and no investigator has ever truly set foot in. Here, on the periphery of the Mineral Wells city limits, abandoned in the barren fields of this dreary town; I am alone in the Beach Army Hospital.

Beach Army Hospital Researched

I’ve done my research, and the only indisputable fact I can spew about this building is that in the eyes of the world, it might as well not even exist. There are no videos of overnight hunts, no independent publications or blogs that have been written, and no record of it’s past with the Mineral Wells Chamber of Commerce. It once served as an installation of the Fort Wolters Military base. It was a hospital devoted to treating active-duty military personnel, but when Fort Wolters shuttered its doors at the end of the Vietnam War, so too did this facility. So here it has sat since the early 1970s, and here I stand in 2020. The first paranormal investigator ever granted access to the structure in nearly half a century.

I stumbled upon this enigmatic situation at the behest of Brett Hobson, the owner of Beach Army Hospital, LLC. In an effort to help fund the hospital’s renovations, Hobson wants to open the doors of Beach Army Hospital for the world to see and wants to do so by allowing private overnight ghost hunts of the facility to any team brave enough to venture to its location.

The dark Past

The site of countless deaths, due to the building’s operation as a hospital. There is also the looming threat of something sinister. Hobson and his family had the misfortune of discovering the building had been used as the destination for numerous satanic rituals. They discovered pentagrams and upside-down crosses painted on the walls of a former patient’s bedroom. According to Hobson, the energy inside the room was so strong “the family dog nearly jumped out of the second-story window when brought in there.”

While there is no doubt in my mind that Beach Army Hospital will quickly prove itself to be amongst the most haunted locations in Texas, if not the country, it’s the spotlight in the paranormal community that will be short-lived. With construction on the building set to begin later this fall, there will only be a few months open for investigators to explore the inside of the building. Then it will close and at that time it will become the Perfect Technician Academy – a local trades training school catering to the veteran community – has announced they will be leasing the building for their own use. What’s more, with the spirits inside having had no interaction with the living in decades, those few months of investigations are poised to yield some utterly groundbreaking evidence of spirits who are eager to make themselves known.

Voices Heard

The disembodied voices of men and women linger in the stairways and halls. The blackened apparitions of former patients can be seen lurking in shadowed corners. The shuffling of phantom footsteps can be heard all around you, and the resident poltergeists are quick to move objects before your very eyes. All of this evidence and more deserve to be captured, and it will be up to you and your team to do so. The Golfhill School Ghost Girl

Merry meet all,

Today is overcast. I was out in my garden today. I spotted an amazing spider web. Every August, I find spiderwebs everywhere. It is their time. The spider web is shown in the above photo. A perfect way to sweep in the Witches season. I can feel it in the air. I gathered fresh blackberries today too. Mmm

Now is the time, now is the hour. I feel so witchy. Tonight Mercury enters Libra. It’s a time of balance, which makes sense since Mabon, or the autumn equinox, is approaching. We can heal the chaos of our pasts to have peace now.

I‘m reading Zac Bagan’s book Ghost Hunting for Dummies. I was shocked to see how in depth he goes about ghosts, hauntings and Spiritualism. I highly recommend this book. I am not finished reading it. It’s such a long read it will take me a while.

Our spooky tale of the day comes from Glasgow:

Dozens of Dennistoun residents have been left spooked by a ‘creepy’ image of a ‘ghost’ at Golfhill School.

Local Martin Monaghan has caused a stir on social media after sharing the snap on community Facebook group, Dennistoun Information Page. The photo appears to show an old woman peeking through a window at the east end school, which has lain derelict since 2007.

And commenters were quick to refer to previous rumors of a ghost who lived in the school, a young girl who allegedly used to wander around the halls on the top floor.

Two faces appear to be side-by-side (Image: John Stewart/Martin Monaghan)

Yet, others believe the image bears an uncanny resemblance to Donald Trump, or perhaps even Boris Johnson.

Speaking to Glasgow Live, Martin said his friend John Stewart – who took the photo back in January of this year – hadn’t noticed anyone in the frame when he originally took the picture, only to be shocked when he later looked through his photos. Meanwhile, Martin says ‘paranormal experts’ have reviewed the image and believe it to be ‘unexplainable’.

He added: “John was out with a couple of friends taking pictures of Golfhill School. The school is due to be demolished soon and the friends wanted some pictures to remember the school.

“When John got home he looked through his photos and got freaked out as he didn’t remember seeing anything odd whilst taking pictures but this creepy image stood out.

“John said: ‘I am not really a big ghost enthusiast but this image certainly haunted me and my friends’.

“The picture has been sent to paranormal experts who agree the image is certainly unexplainable and that there are actually two heads right beside each other.

“We are non-religious and don’t believe in ghosts but when you see something freaky you can’t unsee it.”

A real-life ghost? Or a well-planned hoax? What do you believe, Glasgow?”

Residual energy could explain the eerie appearance of the ghosts. I leave it to you to decide.

The Enfield Poltergeist

Merry meet all,

The moon wanes. The harvest Sabbat continues. The moon sign is currently in Aries. Now is the time to focus on the old projects  you may have procrastinated on. October 31st/ Samhain is the Witches New Year. I want to complete a lot of tasks/ chores or projects before then. That includes completing the cosplay costume, my writing projects and housework. I know some of it sounds redundant but I love a good clean home.

For some cool tips on how to eliminate clutter from your home- and I fight a constant battle with that too, watch this video by a gothic vampire with a sense of humor on youtube: https://youtu.be/RRwGPwNI6zA

Enjoy! He is eccentric but he is funny. I enjoy his videos. It’s inspired me to paint my own furniture. I can’t wait.  I promise to post pics on it when I am all done.

The next upcoming Sabbat is Mabon. I love Mabon. It’s just as magical as Samhain. know that social distancing and wearing masks is dampening our spirits a little. We can all still enjoy Mabon -and Samhain! We just have to be more cognizant. Mabon delights our senses with beautiful autumn leaves in colorful splendor. Golds, reds and brown are painted across the trees that take our breath away. Pumpkins sit on porches. Yup it’s our favorite time of year.

Our spooky tale for this post focuses on the Enfield Poltergeist. Btw, I love the movie Poltergeist.

THE ENFIELD POLTERGEIST – THE TRUE STORY OF THE ENFIELD HAUNTING AND THE CONJURING 2

“The Enfield poltergeist – the name given to the story of the paranormal phenomena that occurred at an entirely normal council house in Enfield, North London, is one of Britain’s most beloved and well-known ghost stories. It’s also been the center of a major Hollywood feature film, The Conjuring 2, as well as a Sky series titled The Enfield Haunting – both with star-studded casts.

The story of the Enfield poltergeist house has divided many, with a number of respected members of paranormal societies believing the account of the Hodgson family to be entirely true, although many sceptics think that there are many elements of the story that earmark it as being a hoax. Although we may not ever know for sure what happened, the poltergeist in Enfield is still one of the most fascinating ghost stories in modern British history.

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

aftermath-janet-attack

The Enfield poltergeist story began in 1977 and centered on the Hodgson family, mainly on the youngest daughter, Janet. Mother Peggy, daughters Margaret, 13 and Janet, 11 and sons Johnny, 10, and Billy, 7, were living in a semi-detached council house in Enfield. It was an entirely normal, non-descript house. We normally hear of tales of ghostly encounters in grander settings: hotels, castles and ancient buildings, so the haunted house in Enfield resonated with families across Britain because it was real; it was close to home, it felt like it could happen to us.

The first event in the haunting is disputed, but it’s thought to be either the beds moving around Janet and Margaret’s room, or, the chest of drawers moving forwards and then moving backwards. In both cases, Peggy told the children to stop messing around, and didn’t believe that anything was happening until she moved the chest of drawers back into place, only to see it move once again. With that, she became frightened and ran to the neighbor’s house: the neighbor’s then accompanied them back to the house, only to hear further unexplained noises, such as knocks and banging noises from various places in the house, with no particular source. The police were called and they too heard the noises but could not trace their source.

THE POLTERGEIST IN ENFIELD: CAPTURED ON FILM

janet-being-thrownOne of the many reasons that the haunted house in Enfield became such a worldwide sensation was because many of the paranormal events that took place inside the home were captured on film. Once the police were called, many more events began to take place: items were regularly thrown around, Janet, the youngest daughter spoke in strange voices and snarls and she was thrown around her bedroom.

One image shows her, midair, in a seemingly impossible leap. Maurice Grosse and Guy Playfair, two of the investigators in the case, from the Society for Physical Research, maintain that they believe the haunting was genuine and caught many of the now-infamous images on film.

Much of the equipment used in their investigation was often found to be malfunctioning upon entering the Hodgson household, despite working perfectly well beforehand, although Janet was found to have hidden a tape-recorder and was video-taped bending spoons on another occasion.

They believe that much of the activity surrounding the Enfield ghost was genuine, although they do suspect that some of the occurrences were exaggerated by Janet for increased attention by reporters. As an example, Playfair said that Bill, one of the voices Janet became most well-known for, had some similar vocal tics and habits to Janet, such as changing the topic of conversation often. Whilst this doesn’t necessarily mean that Bill wasn’t “real”, it does raise questions: why would Bill speak in such a similar manner to Janet?

THE TRUTH ABOUT JANET

Although there are many theories about the truth of the Enfield poltergeist house and there are many who believe the Enfield poltergeist is hoax and nothing more than a figment of a creative yet troubled young girl.

Most investigators believe that the story begins and ends with Janet. The newspapers wrote about the Enfield ghost and the Enfield poltergeist; many also wrote scathing stories about Janet: Janet, the young girl at the very heart of the story. Whether or not she was lying about some or all of the activity, we’ll never know, but there is little doubt in most people’s minds that at least some of the phenomena – at least in the beginning – was real.

Perhaps Janet started to appreciate the increased attention that she, a middle child in a working-class family was finally starting to get, for perhaps the very first time, and so she started to exaggerate some of the activities going on around her in order to gain more notoriety, exposure and attention. Or, perhaps Janet’s story simply echoes other poltergeist stories: typically, poltergeist encounters occur around young women, before they enter puberty. Janet was at exactly the right age for such an encounter and for all we know some of her behaviors, such as bending spoons and hiding a tape-recorder, may have been encouraged by said poltergeist.

WHERE DO THE WARRENS FIT IN?

the-warrensThe Warren investigators were well-known paranormal investigators in the 1960s and 1970s and in fact, they may well be better-known today following the three blockbuster films based on their story: The Conjuring, The Conjuring 2 (Enfield Poltergeist Film) and Annabelle.

The Conjuring 2 true story differs from the film quite a bit. The Conjuring 2 showed the Warrens as being incredibly involved in the case of the Enfield poltergeist house, but this may be more than a little bit misleading. In fact, Guy Playfair, one of the investigators in the case, said that the Warrens turned up to the Enfield house uninvited and actually stayed for just one day.

Ed Warren also reportedly told Playfair that a lot of money could be made from the case, which could indicate why the Warrens themselves turned up to do their own bit of investigation.

WHAT ABOUT BILL?

Perhaps the most interesting part of the whole case centers on Bill, the voice that Janet was heard to use and speak with on a number of occasions, in a gruff, low tone. Some research suggests that the idea of using a different voice or a number of different voices might have been “planted” in Janet’s head by Grosse.

Janet told reporters that Grosse had told her that the voices were needed so they could talk and immediately following, the voices came. Something unexplained about Bill however, is how Janet could have known that Bill died of a hemorrhaged in the armchair in the living room of the house, which was later confirmed by his son – that a man named Bill had died in the house, of a hemorrhage, sitting in his chair in the living room.

The Bill story is what gives the the Enfield Poltergeist case that feeling; that tips skeptics over from not being sure into being believers.

SO WHAT HAPPENED?

After a year and a half of activity, the phenomena at the Enfield house abruptly came to an end. No-one knew why, but these sorts of hauntings are common with poltergeists: they stop, they start, and the family gets back to normal.

During that year and a half, many phenomena occurred: furniture moving, electrical equipment malfunctioning, Janet spoke in different voices and snarls, knocks and banging sounds could be heard from around the house – and from what we can tell, the family could not find a source for any of these activities, at least in the beginning.

Whether or not the Hodgson family was telling the whole truth remains to be seen, but we still can’t come up with a reasonable explanation for the Bill story. Can you?

Overtoun Bridge

Merry meet all,

Ever hear of the Overtoun Bridge? It’s famous, known as Death Bridge. I dare any of you to cross it and comment below your account of crossing such a scary bridge.

Here’s the story: “

About a half-hour’s drive north of the Scottish city of Glasgow there’s a 19th century castle called Overtoun House.

In the 160 years it’s been around, the estate has served as a movie set, a maternity hospital and a place of recovery for Allied soldiers during WWII.

It’s been named death bridge with over 50 dogs taking to the edge of the bridge to commit suicide. Owner report that their dogs go into a trance state and start behaving as if something has possessed them. In later year a logical explanation was given, that minx surrounds the site which dogs are extremely attracted too but it doesn’t explain why do all the deaths occur between the same two parapets on the right side of the bridge? How come dogs don’t seem to jump off other bridges in Scotland — or anywhere else — that are near mink nests?

In 1994, a local Kevin Moy, threw his baby son off the bridge and later tried throwing himself off it has been reported. David Barret message after my very short two lives here due to signal and battery drainage – to tell me a women haunts near the bridge, this would correspond with the responses i got towards the end of the live …

I had a look a bit further into who this lady could be and she is rumored to be lady Overtoun and is known as the white lady of Overtoun. The story goes that this lady was a animal lover and she would often wander across the bridge with her dog. One day a figure lured this lady and her dog over the bridge to the edge and she and her dog leaped the bridge, over a 60ft drop resulting in both their deaths.

The house itself is also rumored to be haunted by Lady Overtoun, even though in a interview the current owners don’t feel it is. They stated that the white lady haunting first came about after a prank two locals did to passerby’s of the bridge. They set up cable tie and pulled a white sheet across the bridge. However, they do feel angels come to visit the house and have even named one of the rooms ‘The Angel Room’ which displays paintings on the ceiling.”

Wow there’s a scary story. Warning: Don’t walk your dogs there, folks. I can’t explain the reasons for the unfortunate suicides. A bad energy must linger. It gives me the chills. I would be shocked it if wasn’t haunted. On to local news…

Spirit of Halloween just opened very close to where I live. I am so excited! I already planned what I want to buy. I loved their witchy merchandise.

The leaves are turning already. Fall has arrived early. Soon we may spy pumpkins perched on decks and verandas. I would love to hear about your awesome garden harvests!!!

Stay spooky!
