Anneliese Michel  Born: 21 September 1952 Died: 1 July 1976

Anneliese Michel is German woman who has undergone Catholic exorcism rites in 1975 and died the next year, due to lack of medical care. Her death was investigated and it was determined that she was malnourished and dehydrated. Due to the shocking revelation, her parents and the priests responsible for the rites were charged with negligent homicide.

Her death and the controversy surrounding it attracted media and public attention due to the Catholic Church’s unusual decision to employ the 400-year-old ritual of exorcism, something that was rarely utilized since the 18th Century.

Those same reports also describe episodes in which Michel would make demonic faces, rip her clothes, eat coal, and lick up her own urine. After her family exhausted their patience with traditional medicine, they called in a priest to perform an exorcism.

When she was only sixteen, Anneliese Michel began suffering regular convulsions and  epileptic seizures. She was later diagnosed with strong psychosis and temporal lobe epilepsy. According to reports, she was too depressed and there were even times that she would even hallucinate demonic faces throughout the day and hear voices that told her she was “damned.” Her condition led to the decision of treating her at a psychiatric hospital. Her condition worsened despite numerous medications and treatment. She became suicidal, this made her parents believe that she was indeed possessed by demons and they started to look for help from a Catholic priest to perform an exorcism.

Michel underwent a total number 76 exorcisms before dying of starvation and dehydration when she refused to eat. Her story never ceases to bring fear and creepy feeling ot anyone who hears it. Her life story inspired a horror film entitled “The Exorcism of Emily Rose.” Aside from the scary story she left to the world. an eerie recording that is said to be one of the numerous exorcisms she underwent had gone viral.

What do you think? Wow. It proves the demonic is real. Maybe Lorraine Warren was onto something there. That is chilling. I leave you to draw your own conclusions. 

Her appearance changes in the photos. You can see her transition to possessed and being malnourished. This scares me.

I wonder why there are so many spirits roaming over the globe now, more than there were before. The veil may not be just thin at Samhain. Maybe we are all headed for something spooky and big, something life changing. I mean look at all the paranormal shows and news now. It’s become mainstream. But I still ask why so many spirits or is it just that we have better technology to detect them? It’s hard to say what’s happening. I believe that being possessed by demons is still rare and anything but common.  

We will never know the truth until we die. Personally I find the afterlife terrifying. I mean it’s a void – or whatever we can define it as something we recognize – of the dead. I think that the spirits/ ghosts are waiting to be guided to their next destination/ dimension. I have seen so many spirits/ ghosts. What is in the void or new dimension we will never know. So we may be in for seeing scary things in the future as ghosts/spirits/ demons make themselves more known and the veil between the worlds thins at an ever increasing rate.
